Conference Registration
 
1. Why do I want to attend?
The conference provides an excellent platform for the international scientific community to connect and exchange scientific information with other researchers and is also a great opportunity for networking and new product launches.
 
2. Where is the exact location of the conference?
HGM 2010 venue is held at Le Corum in Montpellier, France. For more information, please visit our venue page.
 
3. What is the cost of the registration fees and what does it include?

We have different registration rates to cater to various needs. To obtain the Early Bird discount you must register before 31 January 2010.

Standard Registration Rate: €520 (Early Bird @ €385)
HUGO Member Registration Rate: €420 (Early Bird @ €310)

  • Entrance to all sessions from 18-21 May 2010
  • Daily refreshment and snacks
  • Cocktail Reception
  • Conference Dinner
  • Conference Materials

Student Registration Rate : €140

  • Entrance to all sessions from 18-21 May 2010
  • Daily refreshment and snacks

Single Day Rate: €180

  • Entrance to all sessions on the chosen day
  • Daily refreshment and snacks
  • Conference Materials

Student registration rates and single day rates do not cover cocktail & conference dinner entrance. Cocktail & conference dinner tickets can be purchased at €150 when you register for HGM 2010 at http://www.hugoevents.org/hgm2010/registration.php.

Please note that all above rates are subject to French VAT at 19.6%

 
4. What is French VAT?
According to European VAT laws of territoriality, all companies conducting business in France (including the administration of conferences) are obliged to charge a 19.6% VAT (Value Added Tax) on all goods and services. Depending on your country of origin, companies (not individuals) may be eligible to apply for VAT reimbursement. EASYTAX can assist delegates with VAT refunds. 5. How does the registration process go?

Simply complete the online registration form at http://www.hgm2010.org/registration.php

  • Upon submission of the online registration form, an email with invoice will be sent to you
  • Make online payment via PayPal or Cheque or Bank Transfer(upon request) to confirm your registration
  • Upon successful payment, a receipt will be sent to your email which serves as a form of registration confirmation
  • Kindly note that your attendance will not be confirmed until payment is received by HUGO
 
6. Is there a discount available for the conference?

HUGO may offer financial assistance or concession for individuals as well as group registrants. Please contact honyf@gis.a-star.edu.sg for assistance.

 
7. What are my options for payment?

You can choose your preferred payment mode during the registration page:

  • Online credit card payment can be made via PayPal(Visa, MasterCard, Discover, personal Amex).
  • Alternatively, you can pay by cheque or bank transfer(upon request)
        Kindly mail your cheque for the total amount to the following address:

        All cheques should be crossed ’A/C Payee only’ and payable to: Human Genome Organisation (HUGO) International Limited.
        Please indicate registrant’s name at the back of the cheque.
        Please quote the invoice number when making cheque payment.
 
8. How do I pay by credit card via PayPal?

Upon completion of registration form, you will be redirected to the PayPal page. Please note that you must have a PayPal account or must sign up for a free PayPal account if you wish to pay by credit card.

9. How do I make online payment again if I didn’t complete the payment during registration?
An email will be sent to your registered email address upon completion of registration form, where you can find a redirect link back to the PayPal web page.
 
10. What if I want to change the payment method that I had chosen when I first register?
Please email us at hugoadmin@gis.a-star.edu.sg.
 
11. How do I express interest without payment?
If you would like to register without immediate payment* but would like to reserve a seat, please opt for “cheque” under payment method when you register.
*Do kindly note that the registration will be confirmed only when we received your full payment.
 
12. I registered for the Early Bird rate but have not yet made my payment. Can I still get the discounted rate?
All Early Bird registrants have to make full payment by 31 January 2010 to enjoy the discount.
 
13. Who should I contact if I need to cancel or make changes to my registration?
Should you need to cancel or make changes to your registration, please email us at hugoadmin@gis.a-star.edu.sg. We recommend a replacement participant rather than canceling your registration as an administrative charge (€150) would be imposed. Do note that we do not accept any cancellation 3 months prior to 18 May 2010.

Abstract Submission
 
1. How do I submit an abstract
Please use the online abstract portal to submit your abstract. The closing date for submission of abstract is extended till 15 March 2010 for poster presentation.

Submission should be done before 15 March 2010 for abstracts to be published in the HGM 2010 Programme Abstract Book.

However, we do continue to accept abstract submission for poster presentation until 31 March 2010. (Such abstracts will not be published in the HGM 2010 program Abstract Book)
 
2. How can I check that my abstract uses approved gene nomenclature?
Authors should use HUGO approved gene nomenclature in their abstracts and posters. Please check your genes via the Human Gene Nomenclature Database of approved symbols. If you have any other queries about gene nomenclature, please contact the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee directly by email at hgnc@genenames.org.
 
3. How do I find out if my abstract has been accepted or not?
You will be able to check the review status of your abstract review online here. Kindly allow 8-10 weeks for processing and reviewing of abstract. Should there be any queries, please contact hugoadmin@gis.a-star.edu.sg.
 
4. How do I apply for the HUGO Young Scientist Travel Award?
Application for the HUGO Young Scientist travel award application has closed.

Visa Application
 
1. What if I need a visa to attend the conference?
Contact hugoadmin@gis.a-star.edu.sg should you need an invitation letter or any assistance in obtaining/applying of a (tourist) visa. More details can be found here. As visa application can take several weeks, participants/speakers are advised to apply a visa as early as possible.

1. I have special dietary needs; how can I request special meals?
Please indicate your request on your registration form. All special dietary requests must be made prior to the conference; the organisers will try their best to accommodate but requests made on site may not be possible due to high volume of participants.
 
2. How do I book my accomodation in Montpellier?
Please check our website as we update the accommodation information and we recommend booking through our appointed agent, Le Corum or any other travel sites.
